Doing Things Our Way Instead of God’s is Not a Good Idea | According to the Story of the Bible

The bottom line story of God and man that is woven through the Bible makes it clear that it is always better to follow God’s plan than to do things our own way. Bible StoryBoards can show many examples of that truth as you follow our 15 StoryBoards and the storyline that goes with them.

A Generation Lost
A Generation Lost

One of the clearest – and saddest – examples is found in the era described in StoryBoard 5. It was the time in biblical history when the Children of Israel ended up wandering in the desert for forty years as they waited for an entire generation to die.

Why did that happen?

Prior to those years of wandering and death…

  • God had led His people out of Egypt to the homeland He had promised them.
  • He told them to go in and take the land and promised He would go with them so they would succeed.
  • The people were afraid and didn’t trust God. They refused to go in.
  • So God said they would wander until all the adults who refused to trust Him had died.

Learn From Others’ Mistakes

Understanding the story the Bible tells shows us that following God’s plan and His ways is always better than doing things our own way. When we trust Him we will be blessed. When we don’t, there will be trouble.
