Is the Internet a Twenty-First Century Version of the Tower of Babel?

When you understand the story of God & man that’s told in the Bible, there are some eerie connections between the Tower of Babel and the cyber-centric world we find ourselves living in today.

A Modern Day Tower of Babel?
A Modern Day Tower of Babel?

In Bible StoryBoards we’ve divided the storyline of the Bible into 15 major eras of biblical history. StoryBoard 2 is called “Sin” and it’s where the Tower of Babel comes into the story. The first two major events related to sin center around Adam & Eve and Noah & the flood. No matter what God did, people kept choosing to do things their own way instead of God’s, and they suffered the consequences.

After the flood, God started over with Noah’s family. But once again, as the population grew people did what was right in their own eyes. Instead of spreading out in the world like God told them to, they stayed in the same place. Together they felt they were so strong that they didn’t need God. They began building a giant tower so they could reach the heavens and be like gods.

Does that sound familiar? The internet has connected people all around the world. And most people have decided that we are too smart and powerful to need God.

God intervened and stopped the Tower of Babel. Will He intervene today? Bible StoryBoards can help you understand what the Bible teaches about who God is and what it means to walk with Him, so you can be ready for whatever is up ahead.
